November 11, 2005 - A Happy Thanksgiving
On Thanksgiving morning,
a group of D-FY-IT members dedicated their time and service to Perrine-Peters United Methodist Church
in hopes of helping the less fortunate during the holidays.
Feeding over 3,000
people throughout Miami-Dade County, D-FY-IT members assisted in the process of making Thanksgiving dinners
by filling cups with cranberry, sorting loaves of bread, serving food, and packaging dinners to be sent off to
different families in the community. D-FY-IT members were thankful for this special opportunity to help others
in need, especially during Thanksgiving.
January 6, 2006 - Kicking Off First Fridays
Kicking off at the beginning of the year,
our First Fridays is already famous throughout the Miami-Dade community. First Fridays, an monthly event, aims
to provide a drug- and alcohol-free environment for teenagers to have fun with their family and friends.
First Fridays, created by the Coral Gables D-FY-IT chapter,
is believed to be the only program of its kind in Florida and perhaps, even the United States.
In 2006, the national D-FY-IT organization awarded
First Fridays the Nicole Smith Greatest Achievement Award!

December 11, 2005 - IRC Annual
Holiday Party
In December, members of the
D-FY-IT Club volunteered at the the International Rescue Committee's annual holiday party for refugees. Among
the many things D-FY-IT members helped with included the preparations, decorations, entertainment, supervision
of the young children, and distribution of gifts.
Last year, over 300
hundred children attended this festive holiday party. The refugee families and their children ate lunch, played
in the moonwalk, took pictures with Santa and Mrs.Claus, enjoyed the children’s entertainment, and played games with
the volunteers.
March 28, 2006 - Kitchen
Clean-Up
At the end of March, D-FY-IT members dedicated their time to The Studio. The Studio, a local church
known for hosting D-FY-IT's famous First Fridays, was in need of a sparkling new kitchen.
Members helped
by doing various tasks ranging from scrubbing cups to washing kitchen appliances. "We had an awesome time cleaning up the kitchen because everyone was
just laughing and joking with each other," said a fellow D-FY-IT member.
